The very illegal exhibition

Client: 59Rivoli

With over 30,000 daily visitors, Paris hosts the world’s most famous museum. Yet, behind this cultural icon lies a more complex reality for Parisian artists.

Despite Paris's reputation as a historic art hub, over 10,000 contemporary artists and hundreds of innovative art spaces lack visibility. One example is 59Rivoli, an independent, free art center offering intimate access to artists and their creative processes.

In a bold move, we collaborated with the art center 59Rivoli to “illegally” exhibit a work in the second busiest area of the most visited museum in the world: The Louvre’s locker room. Artist Simon Lamasa's "Immortelle," a gothic-inspired bas-relief made from simple pinewood, was split into 12 parts and displayed in transparent lockers, to challenge traditional ideas of how art should be presented and valued.
